Sisters Mini-Holiday Staycation at the Hilton Garden Inn

Updated: Jun 25

The holidays can be such a magical, but let’s face it – hectic time of year, and there often few opportunities to pause and enjoy some rest and relaxation. With myself working full-time, my sister heading into University finals, balancing our regular day-to-day responsibilities and sparkling holiday obligations – needless to say, we were both in desperate need of rest and a little holiday!

As busy as we are, my sister and I often try and set aside some time throughout the year for a ‘Special Sister Day Out’, and this year we decided to turn it into a Mini-Holiday Staycation at the Hilton Garden Inn Saskatoon Downtown!

With 180 guest rooms, we were so excited as our gorgeous room was one of the twelve spa suites which includes a separate living area with a fireplace, king bed, sofa bed, and a large whirlpool tub!

After settling in, we explored the hotel and just next to the front desk found the cozy Steps Lounge, which features many locally produced craft spirits and beer, historic Saskatchewan décor, and also boasts the largest selection of bourbon in Saskatchewan – who knew!

The hotel also features an awesome heated indoor pool, whirlpool, and fitness center!

The Hilton Garden Inn is ideally situated in the heart of downtown, nestled directly across the street from Midtown – Saskatchewan’s largest shopping centre, TCU Place Saskatoon’s Arts and Convention Centre and ample parking, so there is so much in close proximity to experience. So, what are a couple of sisters to do!

We started by popping across the street to do a bit of shopping at Midtown. Swept along with the festive lights and atmosphere, and with over 130 stores from local products to luxury brands, it’s easy to find something for everyone.

The beauty of the hotel being so close to everything is that we were easily able to stop back at our room, drop off our bags, and get ready for the evening.

Next stop – a delicious dinner at CUT Casual Steak & Tap! A locally owned and operated steakhouse, CUT is easy to get to, again just a quick walk from our hotel. Serving a mouthwatering menu, including the finest cuts of aged AAA Canadian Beef and an impressive wine and cocktail list, and its upscale yet cozy and relaxed atmosphere, CUT is the perfect place to escape the everyday and treat yourself!

After dinner and a quick walk back, we were so excited to take in the Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s Nutcracker at TCU Place! It was such a magical show full of festive and nostalgic music, stunning performances, and memorable spectacle. With a full calendar of events featuring an array of international and national performers, speakers and theatrical productions, there is always something on the TCU stage to enjoy. And just steps from our hotel front door – well, that’s a match made in staycation heaven!

Once back at the hotel, I took full advantage of the private jet tub in the suite while I reminisced on our memorable staycation. We were so grateful to be able to experience our city with new perspective and outside of the day-to-day hustle and bustle. Whether it’s the holidays or a special escape from the everyday, your first visit to Saskatoon or you’re a long-time resident, a stay at the Hilton Garden Inn pairs perfectly with any #Saskatooning experiences of your choice. Now that it’s 2024, wasn’t one of your resolutions ‘More travel and self-care’? So go ahead and treat yourself!
